Elections In Redern
« on: January 19, 2016, 12:28:03 pm »
In the aftermath of a recent bombing attack, seemingly perpetrated by nationalist extremists, a surprise decision by the centre-left UNP controlled Parliament has approved bringing the election forward three months. This would place the election for about two weeks from now. The opposition, led by RNP, have condemned this as the worst form of corruption and an insult to the four people who had died. The Freedom Party and the National Reclamation Party have both announced they would be boycotting the election for similar issues, but the NRP also brought up unfair treatment of nationalist groups and the listing of the ARF as a terrorist group. The UNP is expected to win, but the margins are also expected to be closer than the current parliament. The two current heads of the UNP and the opposition are:

Current PM Eric Combs

Representative Jeffrey Durnst

Freedom Party protests in Sydney and Hobart have stopped many from going to the polls. The UNP have won fifty-eight of the seats, RNP has won thirty-three, the Freedom Party rejoined in the last minute earning eight seats but would have gained more, the newly formed Socialist Alliance has won two, and independents have managed a spectacular win of nineteen seats. The UNP, a small group of independents, and the socialist alliance have formed a government. Eric Combs will remain Prime Minister.
