Nearing Deployment
« on: January 12, 2016, 03:18:31 pm »
Alliance Airborne units are put on alert, and gathered at their stationed airbases. They are preparing their equipment, and gathering everything necessary for an airborne deployment. Spare transport aircraft are pulled from other airbases throughout the Alliance to aid in the deployment.

A portion of the Alliance Mediterranean Fleet puts to sea. The Battleship Napoleon Bonaparte, four La Fayette-Class Frigates, a Duquesne-Class Cruiser, a Spectre-Class Cruiser, and a Fusée-Class Cruiser.

In addition to previous mobilizations, a pair of 1080-Class Cruisers and a pair of Spectre-Class Cruisers are being rebased from Spain to French Guiana. Two infantry regiments and one light armored regiment of the Alliance Foreign Legion are also being airlifted to French Guiana.

Seven Alliance Airborne Regiments have been deployed to several locations around the Mediterranean. Three are on route to parachute onto their targets: The island of Malta, the city of Algiers, and the city of Tripoli.

The other four are being deployed via VTOL transports to the Tangier-Tetouan region of Morocco. They will have support provided by the portion of the Mediterranean Fleet which recently put to sea.

The entire Mediterranean region is a large part of the Alliance and is very important to the country for a variety of reasons. Capturing these small territories will go a long way in securing the Alliance's position in such an important body of water by providing bases for Alliance military and merchant marine forces.

Alliance Marine units are preparing to deploy and reinforce each individual Airborne landing force. Once the reinforcements for the Moroccan deployment arrive, the Alliance forces will push further into the country.

The island of Malta has been taken without resistance.

Heavy fighting is taking place in Tripoli. Algiers is fairly quiet, though minor resistance has been encountered.

The Tangier-Tetouan region of Morocco was quickly subdued by Airborne troops with their light armored vehicles. There was spirited, but overall, minor resistance. The Airborne troops are currently fortifying and digging in their positions to await their marine reinforcements.

The minor resistance in Algiers has been defeated with only minor casualties to Alliance forces. 7 troops were killed, another 19 were wounded. The resistance was mainly attributed to the city's police force and a small civilian militia supporting them.

The fighting has died down somewhat in Tripoli, though it has not yet ended. Resistance in Tripoli is being attributed to military forces in addition to the city's own police force.

Alliance marines have arrived in Morocco. They met up with Alliance airborne troops and began to push outwards from the Tangier-Tetouan region. The surrounding regions fell quickly, but the advance has slowed as Moroccan military units opposing the Alliance invasion regroup and put up more concerted resistance.

Many Moroccan military units have simply surrendered when faced by Alliance forces, or even joined them in their advance. The Alliance troops are mostly seen as heroes finally beginning to unite the Francophone states around the world rather than invaders seeking to conquer or oppress.

Fighting in Tripoli has ceased, with the military forces in the city surrendering to Alliance troops soon after the reinforcing marines arrived. 34 Alliance troops were killed, and another 71 were wounded. One EC-995 VTOL was shot down during the battle. It was recoverable and will be repaired.

The advance is continuing as expected, only taking minor casualties along the way to fairly unorganized resistance.

The Green region is where the invasion of Morocco began. Blue regions are areas that have since been secured by Alliance forces. Red regions are areas currently being fought over and secured by Alliance forces.

The invasion has completed, and all of Morocco is under the control of Alliance forces. All resistance from Moroccan forces has ceased. Most of the have surrendered and expressed wishes to join the Alliance military. They will be integrated into the Alliance military soon.

An unfortunate side effect to the capture of Algiers and Tripoli has been the subsequent fall into anarchy for Algeria and Libya after the loss of their capitals. An unfortunate miscalculation on the part of the Alliance government. In order to rectify a mistake previously made, Alliance forces will now move into the remainder of Libya and Algeria to stabilize the region and integrate it into the Alliance. Not only will the anarchy be stopped, but these regions will be brought up to the standards of living enjoyed by citizens within the Alliance.

Blue regions are areas already part of the Alliance. Orange regions are areas currently being fought over and secured by Alliance forces. Green regions are areas that have since been secured by Alliance forces.
