Occupation of the Solomon Islands
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:19:05 am »
"The Solomon Islands lack of funds and horrible state of living has caused heartache across the world, but it most affected the nearby people of Australia and Redern. In the aftermath of the earthquake and other humanitarian disasters, we shall attempt to aid them. The government of Redern will occupy the Solomon Islands and improve its human development so that it may catch up to the rest of the world."
-Leader of the Opposition Bill Reynolds (Redern Nationalist Party)

Three hundred Australian troops have begun the preparations for landing in the Solomon Islands capital of Honiara with the backing of three frigates. Another five hundred have also begun preparing for there landings in the Malaita Islands on the back of four ANZAC frigates.

We thank you for your kind offer, but seeing as the Solomon Islands have no military and we are going in under the pretense of aiding the local people we have no need for fire support. If the Dynasty were to build a trade post on Honiara, Redern would cover the expenses of the construction and maintenance.

The first soldiers have managed to take the port of Honiara and have nearly taken the entirety of the capital. All of the main Mendana Avenue and Kukum Highway inside the city has been taken. The nation currently has no military and has yet to pose any real resistance. However, some local police officers have begun creating a small militia to defend the remaining portions of the capital. Heavier resistance has been seen in Malaita, but earlier movements seem to present the idea that the local resistance is crumpling and fighting amongst itself.

When the islands are occupied we would love to build a trading post on one of the islands and possibly some sort pf military installation.

Redern forces have had three major skirmishes with the newly formed militia in Honiara. Four soldiers so far have died, but the Capital has been captured. A vote by the Malaitan provincial government has led to the standing down of all official government police forces and other groups on the island after the local militia forces were beaten back at Langa Langa. The island of Makira also surrendered when the frigates visited the island. In all sixteen soldiers have died, but Redern forces have managed to take over the majority of the populated area.

In a small building on the outside of Honiara, the Solomon Parliament voted to surrender control over to the Australian Government. The Solomon Government in turn is made semi-autonomous and will be allowed to keep many of there traditional laws. The Australian Government also has to take on the Solomon's debts and improve the local standard of living. Prime Minister Eric Combs is expected to sign it into law at the next meeting of parliament.
