Title: Expedition into South Australia
Post by: The Republic of Redern on January 19, 2016, 06:04:09 pm
Military forces led by Colonel William Parst have begun there advance into South Australia. Prime Minister Eric Combs has stated that the five thousand man force shall negotiate with the local aboriginal tribes in order to get details on ARF locations in the international territory and destroy the terrorist group. Scouting operations have reported mild ARF activity, particularly around the pseudo-city state, Adelaide. The nationalist Australian Reclamation Front is believed to be associated with multiple terrorist attacks throughout Redern, most prominently an attack on the Ministry of Agriculture earlier this month. The official Nationalist Opposition Front led by the Redern National Party and the Freedom Party have condemned this move as nothing more than sick politicking by the powerful Centre-left UNP.

Discussions are in the process of joining local Aboriginal forces and Redern forces in order attack the city of Adelaide and defeat local ARF forces. The local government has been forced to agree to allow this assault on ARF forces, but there is a distinct amount or resignation in the Adelaide agreement.

The assault has begun, so far only three soldiers have been injured. There has been little ARF action as of yet, but the military has yet to get to the heavily ARF dominated downtown. Four M1 Abrams are being set into Tea Tree Gully* in order to scout ahead. Seven confirmed ARF deaths, but for the most part the terrorist have been charging back into central Adelaide.

The SR-71 gets within range of its camera and begins gathering information, and apparently just in time! It sees a group of ARF fighters in Tea Tree Gully with AT weapons and warns the Abrams while relaying them the terrorists co-ordinates.

The Western Commonwealth would like to help in the South Australian expansion.

The Commonwealth has C-17s which can provide weapon drops, care packages and para drop Redern troops.
We also can help by sending trainers to assist in the training of troops

All aid is appreciated, Esterfort is given permission to bomb when necessary. With the information given by the Belkan states, the tanks manage to blast the AT's location. Despite damage to one tank, a major section of AT troops seem to be destroyed. Forces are now set to begin reinforcing the tanks and have begun making head way into Tea Tree Gully. Some sporadic firefights have left three soldiers dead but the forces have begun digging into position.

The 7 C-17s have left the Western Commonwealth with 250 trainers for an airfield in Redern. The C-17s would like to know where to land and set up a temporary base.

The Western Commonwealth is given permission to set up base. Sporadic shootouts have developed into heavy gunfire as ARF forces have begun assaulting the main force in Tea Tree Gully from the rooftops. The initial assaults list high casualties, but soldiers have begun digging themselves in. Tank forces have moved back and waited for soldiers to evacuate civilians. The Aboriginal Forces were ambushed but successfully managed to defend themselves.

The most recent pass of tea tree gully by the SR-71 found two places with VERY high thermal signatures. We can only believe that this is caused by ARF armor from the tank factory as the signatures are identical. We shall send the image to the Estrfort ships so that they may strike the locations.

Have given the order to the forces, Aboriginal command has been given the information separate but they should also be hunkered down. We have sent off a wing of bombers backed by four fighter wings to destroy the location.

YU-1 and YU-2 launch 2 Naval Strike Missiles each. The missiles has been set to hit the positions given by the Belkan States. At high subsonic speed the missile will take moments to strike with their 125 kg (276 lb) HE blast-fragmentation warheads.

The C-17s land and the troops setup base.

Trainers are now being assigned to help out train aboriginal troops and Redern Troops.
Every 2 hours, 2 C-17s will leave the base and drop care packages and weapon drops, to locations that are in battle

The 4 Missiles strike both positions, obliterating both of them. Most if not all ARF fighters close to the blast perish.

[To give a perspective of the damage the Naval Strike Missiles cause here is one hitting a decomissed frigate. (Missile has land and naval strike capabilities)

The sites have been destroyed and it is confirmed that they held ARF armor. However one Leaopard 1 main battle tank is seen rolling away from the area before the strike hit and down the road to the front lines. It's position is sent to the bombers and fighters so that they can hopefully stop it before it can inflict damage on the Redurn forces.

The bombers quickly did a run over the remaining area, destroying most of the remaining tanks. The firefight was mostly over as Redern troops began securing the city. Small skirmishes flared up, but there were no forces large enough to defeat the Redern invasion. ARF forces began retreating outwards. Soon the central city has been captured. Forces are sent in to deal with the remaining soldiers in the outer suburbs.

Starting troops: 5000 Redern 3000 Aboriginal
Casualties: 167 Redern dead, 621 wounded

With Adelaide captured and the ARF defeated in the Battle of Tea Tree Gully, the remaining nationalist forces either are on the run in Western Australia or battling occupying forces throughout South Australia. Fourteen soldiers have been killed in skirmishes throughout South Australia, but its believed over one thousand ARF and other extremist nationalist fighters have died in the Battle of Tea Tree Gully and the ensuing occupation.

The Government of Redern thanks the Western Commonwealth for its support. The success of this war has been a turning point in the battle against the ARF in Redern.
