Debate Maybe? Conservative Vs. Liberal
« on: January 21, 2016, 09:25:48 am »
I very much would LOVE a debate here. I'm not saying the other one is better than the other *cough* I'm just asking why you think the other is better than the other one.
A penny for your thoughts?

Im more of a centrist. Sometimes I go Liberal or Conservative based on the issue.

I prefer to not affiliate myself with either way of thinking. Though, on many issues, I tend to lean Conservative more often than Liberal.

I'm fairly left in most regards. Economics you can argue for days, but social issues like LGBT rights I can't budge on. Sometimes I find it strange that while some people will talk about small government they still think its right to regulate who can and cannot marry. Marijuana is in a similar boat to me but I am less emotionally linked to that fight. The death penalty is always something I want to support but can't find myself able to simply because of both the possibility of being wrong and the fact you just down know the full situation. Gandhi once said "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."

Thats societal censorship. Its very different from Government censorship. Besides, what actually super non-PC thing do you believe and/or want to say? Cause theres a ninety percent chance thats its probably just an awful thing to say.

I'm very conservative, especially with their foreign and military ideals. Just as an example, the British general elections were held not that long ago and the conservatives had a much better idea of what to do. They were the only ones who wanted to keep the trident missile defence and prevention system, meanwhile the liberals want to scrap all but one and keep that in its base (if you ask me, a nuclear deterrent doesn't really work when it's not in use). As well, the conservatives are the only ones who are taking the immigration problem from Europe seriously, cracking down on the ones who use the excuse of immigration to get free healthcare and welfare from our country.

Also, I don't agree with the idea that we lose our civil rights when security forces tap the phones of suspected criminals/terrorists and monitor the computer usage of same kind, it's for our own protection and it makes no sense why proper liberals are against it

(I'm prepared for the "treat the immigrants better" and the "but humans deserve the right to free speech and private Internet usage" comments  :D)

This is the most recent and talked about one.

This is a video disusing New York law where you can get fined up to 2,500 $ for calling a transgender person by the wrong noun.

If i where British i would agree fully with you, but in other countries we cant give the government so much power, for instance in the US, government spies have actually collected data on congressmen they dont like, and in a time where countries seem to be slowly loosing freedom of speech, im not so conferrable with the government listening in on what i say.

I looked it up and it sounds like he kept on sending them tweets after they blocked him. Supposedly it happened over a long time and he sent some nasty stuff including but not limited to:

“Hateful b--tch!”
“Heather’s fat a** gets fatter”

and then:
“A whole lot of ugly at the Cadillac Lounge tonight,” @greg_a_elliott tweeted. The tweet made her fear that Elliott was at the same bar and search the room to make sure he was not, she said.
